Sarita Vihar, Delhi

Sarita Vihar is a well-established residential colony in South East Delhi, developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) along Mathura Road. The site is thought to have initially been chosen as the location for the 1982 Asian Games Village, but on the urging of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the plan was altered to turn it into a posh residential neighbourhood. Today it is a mature, tree-lined locality known for its wide roads, planned pockets, and community-driven upkeep.

The colony earned civic recognition for its green initiatives - in 2013, it was awarded the "Greenest Colony in Delhi" tag by the then Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit, credited to the efforts of its RWA members who have aggressively worked towards improving the state of parks and green spots in the locality.
